The College of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence was established under the background of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, in line with the national strategy for science and technology development and the needs of talent training for regional industry. Its predecessors include the Department of Computer Science of Wenzhou Normal College and the School of Information Science and Engineering of the former Wenzhou University.

The College has 92 faculty members, including 68 full-time teachers. There are 13 professors, 34 associate professors, 42 with doctoral degrees, and 35 with the qualification of supervising postgraduate students. It pools national key talents, candidates for National Excellent Youth Program, provincial leading talents for scientific and technological innovation, provincial outstanding teachers, candidates for Zhejiang Provincial Youth Teacher Funding Program and other talents, as well as provincial innovation teams in colleges and universities, and municipal key scientific and technological innovation team. In recent years, the staff have undertaken more than 40 national-level projects and more than 60 provincial and ministerial-level projects, including the key research and development projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the key projects subsidized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China & Civil Aviation Joint Research Fund, and the projects subsidized by National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars. They won over 10 provincial and ministerial-level teaching and scientific research awards, such as the first prize of provincial natural science award.

We offer the postgraduate programs in Computer Science and Technology (academic pathway) and Electronic Information (professional pathway). In 2021, the discipline of computer science entered the top 1% of the global ESI ranking (ranks 4th in Zhejiang Province). In terms of undergraduate study, we offer four programs in Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering (Chaohao Excellent Engineering Demonstration Class), Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. Among them, the Network Engineering, as the national first-class program, has joined the Washington Accord and the equivalent engineering education agreement (third in the nation and first in the region). The Data Science and Big Data Technology is rated as the provincial first-class program. In 2021, there was 106 full-time postgraduate students, 1,062 undergraduate students, and 57 international students.

Our teaching and research are propelled by advanced facilities. The College has the provincial key experimental teaching demonstration center approved by the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”, national network engineering virtual simulation experimental teaching center, provincial key laboratory of intelligent information technology for emergency, provincial base of visual information intelligent computing and application for international scientific and technological cooperation, Wenzhou key laboratory of intelligent image processing and analysis, etc. In 2020, it was approved as a construction institute of “Southern Zhejiang (Wenzhou) Digital Economy Industry-Education Integration Alliance.” Its “Wenzhou Traffic Safety and Emergency Information Technology Collaborative Innovation Center” was listed in the second batch of “City-level Applied Technology Collaborative Innovation Center” among universities in Wenzhou.
