From October 19th to 20th, 2020, as one of the core activities of the 2020 World Young Scientist Summit, the finals of 5th International " 2020 Metal Cup Golden Season" was held at Wenzhou University. The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is the main organizer of this event. Four graduate students from Wenzhou University, namely, Yao Xukai, Li Qiang, Wang Jiankun, and Wang Xiao, supervised by Professor Chen Xizhang, participated in the finals as the only Chinese team and won the brand award. 

Vlasov Alexander, chairman of the Russian Youth Metallurgical Society, pointed out in his opening speech that this is not only a competition, but also a communication platform for young people to help them gain more knowledge and experience in metallurgy.

Cai Shuguang, Vice President of WZU said that the finals of the international "2020 Metal Cup Golden Season" held at Wenzhou University fully demonstrated the trust of the Competition Organizing Committee to the University. This event provides an exchange platform for industry companies, young scientists, engineers, and students to discuss technical solutions, and plays an important role in promoting exchanges and cooperation among young people from various countries and enhancing friendship.

13 teams from 12 countries including Russia, China, Brazil, Hungary and Indonesia attended the competition. Under the background of the new round of scientific and technological revolution, the competition focuses on the global metal manufacturing industry and encourages young people to seek innovation in science and technology and explore technological solutions.
